Welcome to the live blog for tonight’s series finale between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.
This is not only the final game of this series at Fenway Park but it’s also the last game before the All-Star break this week.
In the first game on Friday night, the Yankees got the upper hand and won a slug-fest with the Red Sox, coming back to win 10-8 behind Mark Teixeira’s two-run go-ahead triple in the seventh inning.
On Saturday, the two teams played a day-night double-header. In the first game, which was a make-up of a rain-out back on April 22, the Yankees won 6-1 behind a solid pitching performance by Freddy Garcia.
In the second game of the double-header, the Red Sox were able to get to Phil Hughes and won the nightcap 9-5.
Now, here were are with the fourth and final game of the series.
Ivan Nova (9-3, 4.05 ERA) will start for the Yankees, while Jon Lester (5-5, 4.33 ERA) will counter for the Red Sox.
How will tonight’s game fare for each team? Will the Yankees claim their third win of the series, or can Boston muster up a second win to split the series?
