It looks like AJ Burnett may be back on track—he won 6-2 last night while holding the Athletics to just two runs over seven innings. Mark Teixeira continued his hot streak by smashing a three-run shot that helped put the Yankees ahead for good in the fourth inning.
Here are some notes:
- AJ Burnett has now allowed 2 ER in his last 13.2 IP. How? He’s finally using his changeup .
- Robinson Cano was probably the last to know, but he is indeed sitting out the HR Derby .
- Minor league RHP Alan Horne was trying rehab, but it seems like that has failed as he’s having season, and possibly career ending, shoulder surgery.
- Minor league pitchers Daury Aquino and Alexander de los Santos tested positive for Stanozolol and will be suspended for 50 games. Both of these pitchers were in the DSL.
The Yankees are sitting in 1st place in the AL East and have the best record in baseball. This is coming at a time when the Red Sox can barely stay on the field and Teixeira and A-Rod finally look like they’re about to bust loose. It’s good to be a Yankee fan.
