Happy April Fool’s Day to all! One of the oldest traditions (holidays?)—that no one knows the origins to—has come upon us, bringing a cornucopia of false Yankee rumors intended to fool, shock, and sometimes, make readers cry out in frustration at rumors that have tremendous downside

Anyway here are some of the false rumors that were circling around today in the Yankee Blogosphere:

Joba Chamberlain to the Pirates for Andrew McCutchen

This deal seemed like the most likely of all the one’s I’ve seen, but it seemed strange that the Yankees would give up on Joba so early without gaining a player who is a sure-fire All-Star.

Believability: 7/10                   Would it have been good for the Yanks?: 4/10

Joba plus Jesus Montero for Jason Heyward

Now, this is a deal I could get behind. Heyward has been called the outfield version of Albert Pujols. That seems more like a player who is a sure-fire All-Star.

The cost seems a little high, especially for a team that is still expecting much out of both Joba and Jesus. Before I got past the headline though, I knew that the Braves wouldn’t pull the trigger so quickly on letting go of Heyward.

Believability: 3/10                   Would it have been good for the Yanks?: 8/10

NY Knicks owner James Dolan in Talks to Buy Yankees from the Steinbrenners.

Nice try, but the Steinbrenners just had a new stadium built, are coming of another championship, and love to win. The only teams that would benefit from this sale are the Red Sox and the Rays.

Believability: 3/10                   Would it have been good for the Yanks?: 0/10

Red Sox affiliate to honor the Yanks with bobbleheads

This one gave me a little chuckle, but really not as heart-stopping as the others. Just thought I’d throw it in for completeness’s sake.

Personal Non-Baseball Prank

The webcomic XKCD is, as its heading suggests, “a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language.” The site went UNIX today, complete with command style linking and white courier font on black background. For those readers that aren’t as big nerds as me, feel free to skip the link. I’m also not sure how much longer the site will be all “unixy.”

Hopefully you all enjoyed my first post, I am really grateful for the opportunity to reach this many readers. I’ll try not to make you sick of me before the season starts. (I think I can last three days).
