Texas Rangers: Hey, Yankees Fans, the Rangers’ CEO Thinks You Suck!

From the mouth of Texas Rangers CEO Chuck Greenberg:
“I thought Yankee fans, frankly, were awful. They were either violent or apathetic, neither of which is good. So I thought Yankee fans were by far the worst of any I’ve seen in the postseason. I thought they were an embarrassment.”
We’ll pretend for a second that this is truly how the Rangers’ CEO feels and not some weird attempt at recruiting a certain ace pitcher.
Greenberg seems completely lost and not just because he’s a Jew living in Texas. His team is on its way out, and since the high majority of pundits still believe Cliff Lee will be signing elsewhere, you can argue the window of opportunity is about to slam shut. If he wants to take a few shots at the greatest city in the world as a means to grab some headlines, I say let him.
The fact is, this kind of behavior happens everywhere. A Phillies’ fan threw up on someone and another had to be tasered. The Giants’ fans had a riot in McDonalds and love getting high. And we spit at Cliff Lee’s wife. Try typing in “fan behavior” into Google. The first 18 things that pop up represent 18 different cities. This isn’t something reserved to one spot. This is something that, tragically, happens everywhere.
It’s embarrassing. It’s unnecessary. And the games would be better without it. However, it is a fact of life.
So if Chuck Greenberg wants to pretend like it only happens in NYC, that’s fine, but I doubt he’s got the cajones to come say that in the Bronx.
