The New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins square off tonight at 8:10 EDT in Minneapolis.
The game features some interesting storylines, as both teams are desperate to start off July with a win.
The Yankees are seeking to put their June woes behind them, and they come into tonight’s game as losers of six of the last seven. Minnesota is still hoping to recover from its 10-game losing streak in May. The Twins find themselves six games under .500, and they have been slowly digging themselves out of their early-season hole.
Both teams are strutting out pitchers who have struggled as of late, and both are searching for a bounceback game.
The Yankees will roll out Andy Pettitte (5-6, 4.22 ERA), who is hoping to avoid losing four straight decisions. A victory would be welcome for Pettitte, who hasn’t won a game since June 8.
Pitching for the Twins will be Scott Diamond (5-7, 5.40 ERA). Diamond has given up three or more earned runs in each of his last four starts, compiling a 1-3 record in that time.
I’ll be posting more updates closer to first pitch. Feel free to add your predictions down low in the comments section.
