Left-hander Casey Crosby made his major league debut on Friday night against the Yankees and, unfortunately for him, it didn’t go as planned.

Crosby, who was trying to become the fourth lefty in the last 30 years to beat the Yankees in his major league debut, fell victim to the Yankees big bats.

Crosby lasted just 3.1 innings, allowing six runs on four hits and four walks.

After a bases-loaded walk to Derek Jeter in the second inning, Curtis Granderson touched up Crosby with a grand slam deep into the right field seats.

The Yankees scored another run off of Crosby before he departed in the sixth, then added another singular run in the eighth.

Alex Rodriguez added some insurance with a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning.

After throwing 70 pitches through three innings, CC Sabathia was able to settle down and deliver a quality start.

He tossed seven innings in the ballgame, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out five. It’s the second time Sabathia has beaten the Tigers this season.

With the loss in his debut, Crosby joins Kansas City lefty Will Smith and Baltimore lefty Wei-Yin Chen as lefties that the Yankees have defeated this season in their major league debuts.

It was just the third win for the Yankees in their last nine games in Comerica Park, a streak that covers two seasons.
