N.Y.’s Juan Miranda Has Pop, Just Sad Mark Teixeira Was Plopped in Front of Him

Via Peter Abraham, we’ve learned that Juan Miranda will be joining the Yankees in Seattle tonight. His season with Scranton ended last night when they lost 3-2 in 12 innings to the Durham Bulls in the International League Championship.
Miranda played in five games for the Bombers last year, amassing 14 plate appearances. He collected four hits, one of them a double, drove in one run, walked twice, and struck out four times. His line was .400/.500/.500.
For Scranton this year, Juan hit .290 with a .369 on-base percentage and a .4988 slugging percentage. He added 19 homers and 82 runs batted in.
This will most likely be Miranda’s last go around with the Yankees. He’s out of options after this season and with Mark Teixeira manning first base, Miranda is most definitely blocked. Miranda will either be designated for assignment or released to make room on the 40-man roster for players who need to be protected.
Juan Miranda has had a solid minor league career with the Yankees since 2007, hitting .280/.366/.474/.840 with 47 homers over 1439 plate appearances. Hopefully, he can catch on with another team in 2010.
