At some point even the truly remarkable become tough to move.
Such is the issue facing the New York Yankees at the moment—if you believe there is indeed an issue.
MLB analyst Gabe Zaldivar offers some thoughts on an aging Ichiro Suzuki, who is getting paid quite handsomely to be just a fourth outfielder for the 2014-15 season.
And really, that’s how things seem on the outset of spring training.
With the likes of Jacoby Ellsbury, Carlos Beltran, Brett Gardner and Alfonso Soriano on the squad, it will be rare to see Ichiro actually hit the outfield with any regularity.
Of course, there is a lot to like about Ichiro, who can still command right field well and doesn’t miss many games because of injury.
The durable star is on the very backend of a prolific career. Some, like Ken Rosenthal, seem to think that the finale may not feature pinstripes.
Feel free to leave your thoughts on the Yankees and their outfield that is getting mighty crowded as we head toward what should be an exciting 2014-15 season.
