Via Joel Sherman of the NY Post:
“With [Adrian Gonzalez] in AL East, Yankees even more motivated to find LH reliever to team with [Boone Logan] since [Damaso Marte] is out for year.”
The Yankees have already identified a lefty reliever as a priority this winter, and naturally, getting Adrian Gonzalez has renewed this desire.
Let’s face it, Logan had a nice season in 2010, but he is far from a shutdown lefty reliever. The Yankees are going to need more to keep Gonzalez quiet.
So far this offseason, the Yankees have only been connected to J.C. Romero, Pedro Feliciano and by some (although I’m not buying it) Scott Downs. Maybe these players are on the top of their wish list, but more likely they’re the only ones we’ve heard about.
After re-signing their legacy players and adding Cliff Lee, the Yankees weren’t expected to spend a lot of money this offseason. Now that could change if the Yankees get aggressive and look to spend here.
