Kevin Youkilis‘ name has been a very popular topic as of late.

Up until Sunday, he had been mulling over two offers; one from the Cleveland Indians and one from the New York Yankees.

However, the Indians decided to go with Mark Reynolds on a one-year deal, which might have all but taken the Tribe out of the running for the 34-year-old.

According to Wallace Matthews of ESPN, Youkilis is “strongly considering” the Yankees offer, which is for one-year and $12 million for 2013.

In the story done by Matthews on the ESPN website, Matthews interviewed Edward Youkilis, the uncle of the MLB player, who went on record as to saying his nephew loves New York.

“Even when he was with the Red Sox, he always said he would love to play here someday,” Edward Youkilis said. “He said it would be an experience like no other.”

Many people thought that Youkilis made sense going to Cleveland as he would be re-united with former Boston manager Terry Francona, plus he would be playing in his home state of Ohio.

But with the Indians going in a different direction, the Yankees offer may in fact be Youkilis’ best offer this winter.

He’ll likely play the majority of the season at third base due to Alex Rodriguez needing surgery on his hip. Plus, if needed, he can spell Mark Teixeira at first base or even play some games at DH.

There is still no timetable as far as if and when Youkilis will make a decision, but all signs look like they’re pointing towards the Bronx for Youkilis.

Stay tuned, Yankees Universe.
