Yankees catcher Jorge Posada ignited a bench-clearing brawl when he intentionally bumped into Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jesse Carlson after scoring in the eighth inning in New York’s 10-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays last night.
Posada was returning to the bench after scoring when he bumped up against Carlson, who exchanged a few words with Posada. Whatever was said, it was enough to get Posada charging, and the rest of the Yankee players off the bench followed suit.
Carlson was seen sporting a knot on his head after the incident. Yankees manager Joe Girardi was also reportedly struck in the melee.
