Welcome to the 3000-hit club Derek Jeter, you certainly earned it in style!

With the crowd on its feet, Jeter blasted a home run to become the 28th member of the prestigious 3000-hit club, and he sealed his fate as a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

The New York Yankees legend has come under scrutiny lately for not being as effective as he had been early in his career. But there is no better way to silence your critics than putting one in the seats for your 3000th hit.

It took Jeter 17 seasons to get 3000 hits, and he becomes the sixth player to do so, joining the elite company of MLB legends Pete Rose, Stan Musial, Hank Aaron, Ty Cobb and Paul Waner.

Jeter is not only the best shortstop in the modern era of baseball, but his longevity as a New York Yankee has put him in the top five of the Yankees organization.

If there was any doubt that his longevity, leadership abilities or five championships weren’t enough to get him into the Hall of Fame, the 3000 hit milestone should be enough to make him a first-ballot inductee.

While it is obvious that the end of the road for Jeter is closer than many thought, he still has a lot left in the tank, and the Yankees will ride his leadership for as long as they can.
