Big news this week as Spot Starters favorite, Derek Jeter, tied Lou Gehrig for the most hits ever in a Yankees uniform with 2,721 hits.
That’s an impressive total and Jeter and Gehrig each had phenomenal careers. Gehrig is in the Hall of Fame and Jeter is as close to a Hall of Fame lock as you can find. However, did you know that three Tigers had more hits wearing the Old English D as Jeter and Gehrig have had in Pinstripes.
Here’s the rundown on the Tigers all-time hits leaders. Just for fun.
- Ty Cobb: 3,900
- Al Kaline: 3,007
- Charlie Gehringer: 2,839
- Harry Heilmann: 2,499
- Sam Crawford: 2,466
- Lou Whitaker: 2,369
- Alan Trammell: 2,365
- Bobby Veach: 1,859
- Norm Cash: 1,793
- Donie Bush: 1,745
The current Tiger with the most hits as a Tiger is Brandon Inge who ranks 33rd with 882. There are also 28 Tigers have had least 1,000 hits with the club.
