Anthony Claggett will be promoted to the New York Yankees before tonight’s game against Toronto.
Claggett has appeared in one prior game this year, going 1 2/3 of an inning and giving up 8 ER on 9 hits and 2 walks.
The move was most likely made because Sergio Mitre will be taking his turn on the mound tonight. In case the game goes bad, Claggett will serve as an innings-eater.
It would seem that Ramiro Pena would be called up in the next few days as a replacement for Claggett on the roster.
In bigger news, super-utility man Cody Ransom is rumored to be the one getting designated for assignment.
Ransom has been seeing little playing time with the recent addition of Jerry Hairston Jr., and has been the subject of endless mockery by the fans for his recent struggles.
Batting a mere .190 at the plate this season with zero homeruns, it is hard to feel sorry for the guy.
This may be the end of the line for the new Yankee legend.
