Well, I guess I was wrong.
After pitcher Chad Gaudin was released by the New York Yankees in the middle of last week, I was pretty sure he would sign with either the New York Mets or Los Angeles Dodgers.
Just like I thought the Oakland A’s wouldn’t sign Ben Sheets, I didn’t think they would sign Gaudin either. But they did.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com , the A’s have signed Gaudin to a major league contract. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed yet.
With the A’s’ rotation essentially set with Sheets, Brett Anderson, Dallas Braden, Trevor Cahill, and Vin Mazzaro taking the five spots, look for Gaudin to come out of the bullpen.
This will be Gaudin’s second stint in Oakland. The righty pitched for the A’s from 2006 to 2008.
