The voting to see who will grace the cover of Sony’s MLB 13 the Show begins on Jan. 7, and we already know who two of the three candidates will be.
It was announced on Wednesday that the Washington Nationals’ 20-year-old phenom, Bryce Harper, was the first candidate.
On Saturday, his opponent was announced.
New York Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia will have the chance to represent the Bronx Bombers as the game’s cover athlete. If Sabathia wins the vote, he would become the first pitcher ever to appear on the cover of the game.
Fact: a pitcher has never been on the cover of The Show. Also a fact: @cc_sabathia is a candidate for MLB 13’s cover. mlb.com/covervote

Sabathia is no stranger to the video game world. A virtual Sabathia appeared in this entertaining Battlefield: Bad Company 2 trailer below.
Judging by the players that have been announced as candidates, the third and final candidate may have a good chance of winning the vote—unless of course fans from Washington or the Bronx stuff the virtual ballot boxes.
Outside of the nation’s capital and the Big Apple, Harper and Sabathia aren’t exactly the most beloved players. Harper is the hotshot youngster with tons of hype. No matter how good he is, people will just consider it en vogue to hate him.
Sabathia is a Yankee, most baseball fans—that aren’t Yankee fans—hate the pinstripes. Unless the third candidate is like Ian Stewart or Kelly Shoppach, they may be in good shape.
At any rate, the time for virtual baseball is just around the corner. MLB 13 the Show is set to release on March 5, 2013.
