It has now been revealed that Roberts interviewed some of his former high school teammates and they related to her that he had taken steroids while in high school and that the coach knew about it. Rich Hofman the coach has denied these allegations.
The most damaging information released came from sources who said they knew he was still using steroids after joining the Yankees. If that is true then it is possible that Rodriguez was lying to the media or at worst was conveniently forgetting to mention his steroids use with the Yankees.
If he was using with the Yankees that raises the question of how many of his home runs were aided by steroids. If he was using not only with the Rangers but also with the Yankees any home run records he breaks will be meaningless like when Barry “Balco” Bonds stole the home run record from Hank Aaron in a non-event for me.
The book also delves into the relationship between Rodriguez and trainer Angel Presinal who was seen with Rodriguez and his cousin Yuri Sucart after he joined the Yankees.
It appears that the release of the book and the return of Rodriguez to the Yankee lineup are on a collision course with a possibility of both events happening the same day.
Just when it looked like Rodriguez had put the steroids questions behind him he will be hounded by reporters with questions about these latest allegations.
The question is how much more news will be forthcoming from the book The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez when it is published.
If Rodriguez was only telling half the truth in his press conference during spring training he needs to tell the rest of the truth so the Yankees can focus on baseball when he returns.
If not, we will have a media circus all season long as the media will not let this slide without trying to get the rest of the story.
He needs to address this once and for all and not leave anything out next time if these latest allegations are true. He needs to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. If he continues to tell half truths that leave out important information his word will mean nothing to anyone.
