The New York Yankees (5-5) and Minnesota Twins (3-7) will meet up for the second game of a four-game series on Tuesday night inside Yankee Stadium, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 ET.
Las Vegas oddsmakers have established the Yankees as convincing -235 home favorites, while the total stands at 8.5 across the board.
CC Sabathia (0-0, 6.75 ERA) is definitely the main reason for the high tariff being placed on the Yankees, as he’s managed to post a dominating 8-0 record and 1.72 ERA in his last nine regular season and postseason outings against the Twins.
New York will also be looking to bounce back from a series-opening 7-3 loss to Minnesota on Monday night, getting shutout over the final eight frames after scoring three runs in the first inning.
Bettors will find that the Yankees are a formidable 24-6 in Sabathia’s last 30 starts as a favorite of -200 or greater, while the “over” is 3-0-1 in the last four games in that situation.
Minnesota will counter with a left-hander of its own, sending out Francisco Liriano (0-1, 10.00 ERA) for his third start of the 2012 campaign. He has allowed 12 runs (10 earned) and 15 hits in nine combined innings over his first two outings.
Liriano has a losing 1-3 mark and 3.08 ERA in seven career games (six starts) versus the Yankees, including an 0-2 record and 4.24 ERA in three starts at Yankee Stadium.
Weather forecasts are calling for partly cloudy skies and game-time temperatures in the mid-60s, while a 10-15 mph breeze out of the northwest will be prevalent throughout (out to right).
