MLB Spring Training 2012: New York Yankees’ Curtis Granderson Ready for Big Year

New York Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson had a huge 2011 season, but he thinks that he still has room for improvement.
The 2011 season was Granderson’s most stellar year in the big leagues coming in second in home runs with 41, he led the league with 136 runs scored and had the most RBI in the American League East with 119.
Adding to those numbers for 2011, he got 153 hits, 26 doubles, 10 triples and stole 25 bases with a batting average of .262.
After an incredible season like 2011, he refuses to think that he has reached any sort of plateau and he believes that he can further improve in all areas.
Always striving to better himself, Granderson said that there is always room to improve across the board, no matter what.
When the 2010 season ended, Granderson worked diligently with batting coaches to tweak his hitting. They worked on and refined his swing and his batting stance, which proved to achieve great success.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Granderson has made great strides in the last year and a half, and believes that he could hit anywhere in the lineup between first and sixth.
Girardi hasn’t made up his mind about where Granderson will hit in the lineup. He wants to watch how the players do during spring training and will make that decision by Opening Day.
In his eight seasons playing in MLB, Granderson has continuously improved in all areas never accepting that his current success is the best that he can do. Younger players working through the ranks would do well to learn from his work ethic and personal drive to exceed his goals.
The ethic and the drive that he consistently demonstrates will likely lead him to be one of the best players that we will see in MLB in 2012.
