One of the things that fans love and love to hate about New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is his active social life. He has dated some of the most famous and beautiful women in the world in his 16 years as a Major League Baseball player, but never has he been caught in a scandal of any kind.
Considering the New York media and the ladies that he has dated, that has no doubt taken a lot of effort on his part. Now that he is single, the sharks are circling just waiting to smell blood.
In a report on BustedCoverage.com, which is the sports equivalent of the National Enquirer, there is a photo of Jeter drinking at a bar and three ladies standing to his left. All four of them are looking in the camera, but he looks like he would rather be anywhere else.
One of the ladies issued a statement:.
“…My girls and I were partying at a club in New York City, one of my girlfriends knew one of Derek Jeter‘s friends. Later that night we ended up meeting them for drinks, let me tell you Derek is one of the sexiest athletes I have ever seen.
We were kicking back Coronas getting loose having a good time. I had a few drunken dances with the baseball stud and I was flirting with him the entire night.”
Let’s start with the idea that this is a “story” of any kind. Jeter is a single man living in the biggest city in the country and the baseball season is over, so he has the right to do whatever he wants.
As for the woman in the photograph claiming that she “had a few drunken dances with the baseball stud,” while we may not have anything else to go on besides her word and the picture, he looks like he wants nothing to do with them.
When did we become a culture more obsessed with scandal and celebrities than trying to do good and fix the world?
Jeter is not doing anything wrong and any attempt to sully his name with a weak picture like this is just another sign of the decay of modern society. Let him live however he wants to live.
Nothing that these gossip websites try to create on him is going to tarnish his legacy on the baseball field, so what is the point of it all?
