Nick Swisher rewarded All-Star voters with a 4-for-4 night, Andy Pettitte pitched a brilliant eight innings, and Alex Rodriguez won the game with a two-out, two-RBI hit as the Yankees beat the Mariners 3-1 for their 6th consecutive victory.
Here are some notes:
- Mike Silva got a tip that the Yankees may sign 3B Garrett Atkins to a minor league deal.
- Sergio Mitre will join the team immediately after the All-Star break.
- Even with 8 Yankee All-Stars, manager Joe Girardi is leaning toward using LHP David Price as his starter in the All-Star Game.
- CC Sabathia said he’s happy for his friend LeBron James, but feels sorry for the people of Cleveland.
Sorry for the people of Cleveland? What about the people of the New York area? We’re still stuck with the Knicks and Nets. Although I don’t blame LeBron for not wanting to join either team.
