Chan Ho Parks At New York Yankees and Signs One-Year Steal

In the wee hours of Monday morning, 36-year-old former Philadelphia Phillies starter Chan Ho Park agreed to terms with the New York Yankees.
The deal is for one year and $1.2 million guaranteed, plus another $300K in incentives for a possible total of $1.5 million.
The Yankees have yet to make the announcement, but reportedly agreed to terms at 1 am.
In 2009, Park had a 4.43 overall ERA in 83 innings pitched. He started seven games and had a 3-3 record while with Philly. His opponent batting average was .248 against righties and .280 against lefties.
Last season, in 38 games and 50 innings of relief—which is where he is expected to pitch for New York—Park had a 2.52 ERA, and his WHIP was an amazing 1.18 from the bullpen. His strikeouts per nine innings was 9.4.
In four appearances of World Series play against the Yankees, Park gave up no runs and only two hits in 3.1 innings pitched. In comparison, he was better than both Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes.
In 2008, Park had an overall 3.40 ERA while pitching for Joe Torre’s LA Dodgers. In 49 games and 70 innings of relief, he had a respectable 3.84 ERA as a reliever.
For $1.2M, Chan Ho Park is a steal for New York and alleviates some worry after the Yanks lost Brian Bruney and Phil Coke during the offseason.
