A-Rod Ties Reggie and I Was There To See It

After nearly a month-long hiatus, I have returned to Bleacher Report, but who cares, lets get on with the article.
It didn’t take long Thursday night before Alex Rodriguez tied Reggie Jackson for 11th on the all-time home run list with his 563rd blast of his career in the first inning.
What more could I ask for since I was there? Well the ball could of landed in my lap, but that would be too good to be true. I got a nice view of it as I was three rows back in left and I knew it was gone as soon as it reached the outfield. The wind was blowing out.
“We needed that,” Rodriguez said. “I needed it. I felt like my body was reacting pretty well.”
The Yankees went on to win 11-7 in a slug fest to secure the victory and a series win.
I was at all three games of course since this is my hometown, I couldn’t miss out on this.
Tuesday’s loss was a joke, but after Joe Girardi got tossed on Wednesday night, it turned around very quickly.
Francisco Cervelli connected with his first career home run as he was the very next batter, and the Yankees went on to win 8-4.
I acknowledged Cervelli the next day, telling him congrats on his first shot, he replied, “Thank you.” I then asked him if he got his ball because it never went into the stands, he said, “Nope.”
Random notes from the series:
– The roll call was performed all three games. It never took off well on Tuesday, but on the next two games, it went around the entire outfield and infield and was acknowledged by the players. I got a nice laugh from Johnny Damon Thursday night as I yelled, “Yoooooo Johnnyyyyy!” in the first inning, since he was right in front of me. Good stuff.
– Yankee fans were spread throughout Turner Field and it was a nice showing all three nights. Fans were pretty bummed Tuesday and the first part of Wednesday, but as soon as Girardi got tossed, the “Lets Go Yankees” chants got louder and it turned around.
– Nick Swisher has a tattoo guy in Atlanta and Phil Hughes and himself, got tattooed on the inner part of their upper arms on Tuesday night, a couple of bible verses.
– The Yankees got a surprise visit from Brian Cashman on Thursday as he flew into Atlanta to take in the game.
– Outfielder Xavier Nady, who is trying to recover from an elbow injury, pulled himself from a game with Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday after a painful throw. “It could be the worst-case scenario,” General Manager Brian Cashman said.
– CC Sabathia, who left his last start in the second inning because of biceps tendinitis, will start on Friday against the Mets at Citi Field. Sabathia played catch on Thursday before flying ahead of the team to New York.
– Second baseman Robinson Cano was out of the lineup Thursday with a sore right wrist.
